Skálmöld´s first record is named Baldur and was released in 2010. The record tells a story of a Viking named Baldur, from the time he loses all he´s got in an attack until he dies. His goal is to avenge his family and the listener follows the story through the lyrics of each song. Although the story is completely made up it has references to saga and mythology. Skálmöld didn´t go the usual way, they didn´t play at many concerts before they released their first record but went straight to a studio with their music. The record was made in Stúdíó ReFlex and administered by Axel “Flex” Árnason. In one song, Aðalbjörn Tryggvason, the singer in the band Sólstafir, is the voice of Baldur´s arch-enemy.
The songs on the record are :
- Draumur (a song without lyrics)
- Baldur (bonus track)
